2: Actions Are More Important than Advice

Children don’t learn from advice. Your actions penetrate deep into their souls. They absorb your actions 10% more than your advice. Actions speak always louder than words. Practicing what you want to teach your children is the best way to teach. Your action must be constant; that must be your second nature.

A child should receive constant impressions of your actions. The constancy of habits is actual parenting. That is getting absorbed and penetrating deep into the personality of a child. A child’s confidence in his parent’s character provides the basis of confidence in himself.

Teach them to speak the truth and train them to listen to the truth. This is more important than teaching any life skill. There should be no contradiction between actions and words.

 

3: Be a Role Model for Them

Be successful yourself first. They will later read the stories of great persons later and get inspiration from those stories. But first, they receive it from home. The moral standards of parents penetrate deep into them. Training them on highly uplifted ethical values is the greatest aim. Parents can develop peace in their families only when they invest the right amount of time and potential.

The research says that 65 % of character builds at home. And this forms the major part of the whole process of character development. The motivation gives strength to this 65% and awakens innate goodness. Basically, parents are the real guides and if their children do not find them as the torch bearers of enlightenment, they don’t develop in the way they should.

We have preconceived notions. Let your child question. Give attention to every question. Share with the child your own perspective and encourage her to find his own. Appreciate the child on questioning. Leave the practice of conditioning their minds.
